I have the honour to request your approval
for the local engagement on a strictly temporary basis
of Dr. John Lanchester as a Dental Surgeon to fill the
new post provided on page 71 of the estimates for
1940-41. A copy of Dr. Lanchester's application on
Form P/1 and a certified copy of his birth certificate
are enclosed.
2.
In view of the very temporary nature of the appointment it is proposed to offer Dr. Lanchester a
fixed inclusive salary at the rate of £820 per annum
without residential allowance rather than place him
on the time scale provided in the estimates. In this
connection I would invite reference to your confidential
5/53503/6/39. despatch of 2nd April, 1940, approving a similar proposal
